Galaxy marble, Dichroic Vortex Marble,
2 available
A mottled and spotted colorful glass design coats the back of this marble. Contained within this marble is a highly reflective material called Dichroic glass which has been manipulated to provide the swirled effect that can be seen. The swirling dichroic glass is reminiscent of images from the Hubble Space Telescope that show galaxies and nebulas.

This glass marble is handcrafted using specialized torches that generate temperatures well above 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. These extreme temperatures are needed to melt and manipulate the Borosilicate Glass.
This is the same type of glass that scientists use for test tubes and beakers due to its high level of strength and durability. To ensure it obtains its maximum strength and durability I place each marble into a computerized kiln that slowly cools the glass over the course of many hours. This allows both the glass on the inside and the outside of the marble to cool and shrink at a uniform and consistent rate throughout. This process is called annealing. When properly annealed glass can last thousands of years. Thus allowing it to be enjoyed by many generations of people.

Pictures really don't do these pieces the justice they deserve. So here is a link to a short video that will let you see what this marble looks like. The video also shows examples of each of the color options available.
